The community of Barriere gathered on April 25 to show appreciation for the many volunteers who give of their time throughout the year.
Hosted by the District of Barriere, the volunteer recognition event took place at The Ridge Gym with the assistance of Barriere Secondary Student attendants on hand from 2 to 3 p.m.
It was a time to meet with local organizations, to celebrate the nominated volunteers, learn more about volunteering and encourage new volunteers to sign up.
A delicious free barbecue was served and there were even some special door prizes.
Many of the volunteer-based organizations offered information, answered questions and were ready to sign up new volunteers interested in giving back to the community.
