Fatal overdoses are increasing in the Williams Lake area, said Interior Health in a drug poisoning overdose alert issued Tuesday, April 30.
The effect remains in effect until Tuesday, May 7 and follows up with a previous drug alert issued March 25, 2024.
“Help us better understand the drug supply by getting your drugs checked,” noted the alert. “No matter what or how you use (smoking, snorting, injecting) take steps to prevent overdose.
Locations where drugs can be checked can be found at drugchecking.ca.
IH warns of an increased risk of mixing with other drugs, including alcohol.
Other recommendations include:
Use with others around or at an Overdose Prevention Site (OPS)
Start with a small amount and space out your doses
Carry naloxone and know how use it
