BC Highway Patrol caught a man speeding 182 km/h in a 110 km/h zone near 93 Mile House on April 24.
100 Mile House Sgt. Brian Lamb said it was one of 99 calls for service the RCMP received between April 23 and April 30, 2024.
Upon being stopped, the driver “advised he was in a hurry to get to work at a city in Northern B.C.” Lamb said.
The driver was subsequently given a violation ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle impounded for seven days.
Another speeder was caught on April 27, while police were patrolling Highway 97 near Keene Road. A vehicle travelling southbound was clocked at a speed of 140 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.
After RCMP stopped the vehicle, the driver did not give any reason why he was speeding and was upset he had been stopped. Lamb said the driver was given a violation ticket for excessive speed and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Impaired driving played a role in an April 25 incident on Canim Hendrix Lake Road.
RCMP received a report of a possibly impaired driver and “made patrols and located the vehicle” - stopping it near Houseman Road, Lamb noted.
Officers spoke with the male driver who was then suspected of having recently “consumed alcohol.” The male driver failed a breath test and was subsequently issued a roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On April 25 an unknown vandal keyed a car parked in the 300 block of Birch Avenue near the community hall in 100 Mile House, leaving “visible scratches to the paint.”

RCMP responded to reports of a hit and run on April 29 in a parking lot in the 90 block along Highway 97 where a vehicle was observed hitting another parked vehicle before leaving the scene, Lamb said.
RCMP located the driver, who displayed symptoms of alcohol consumption and admitted to drinking a single beer.
Lamb said a breath demand was issued, with the male driver providing a breath sample - which led to a fail. The male was issued an immediate roadside prohibition from driving for 90 days, was served a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Later that same day, RCMP responded to a reported break-and-enter at a business located on Wrangler Way. Lamb said that a trailer “was entered and several items were believed to have been taken.” RCMP do not know exactly what day the incident occurred but believe it was recently.
Finally, RCMP responded to five alleged incidents involving stolen property, theft or stolen vehicles.
Lamb said the first incident occurred on April 17 when they received a report of stolen property from “a property on Netherlands Road.” Police responded and found two flat deck trailers stolen from the Green Lake and Lone Butte areas on April 13.
During the search, police also found a fishing boat, kayaks, various tools, generators, wheels, and outdoor yard accessories from the same Lone Butte theft - as well as additional items that the RCMP believe were stolen such as a small outboard motor, roof rack with lights, LED Christmas lights and a snow shovel.
Lamb said they have yet to identify the owner of those stolen items. Two persons were at the property and were questioned, but were not arrested. In addition, the RCMP said they want to get the unclaimed items back to their rightful owners and ask those who think those items are theirs to contact the 100 Mile House RCMP and cite File 2024-1163.
On April 23, officers responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle with potential stolen property parked on Canim Lake Road South. On arrival officers located a motorhome with a male and female inside it, Lamb said.
Officers found a Rainbow flat deck trailer attached to the motorhome they believed to be stolen and a motorcycle that had been repainted with its vehicle identification number “tampered to prevent identification.” RCMP believe the motorcycle was stolen from the Clinton area.
Due to a lack of insurance, RCMP had the motorhome towed. They ask anyone who saw the motorhome or trailer the night before to contact them.
A cabin building package was stolen from a property in the 4300 block of Canim Hendrix Lake Road on April 25. Lamb said the theft would have taken a considerable amount of time to complete due to the amount of and weight of the building materials. It is believed the theft occurred between April 22 and April 25.
A mobility scooter charger was stolen from an Aspen Street residence on April 26 around 5 a.m. Lamb said video surveillance showed a male wearing a green hoodie and blue baseball hat taking the charger.
Finally, on April 29 officers responded to reports of a vehicle being stolen from a parking lot on Alder Avenue. A two-tone red and grey 1992 Ford F250 with BC licence plate VT0322 was taken while the owner was bringing items to his vehicle and returned to find it gone. In addition, Lamb said the keys were with the vehicle at the time of the theft and that RCMP have not recovered the vehicle.
